Staycation at Marina Bay Sands - 30.7 - 31.7.2011
Sunday, 31 July 2011

I was so looking forward to this stay since we booked this a mth ago. Maybe due to many postive feedback heard & saw many pictures on this ATAS hotel so I hope it's really what I expected to be. However to my surprise when we stepped into the hotel, OMG.. the external of the hotel looks atas so I thought its going to be a quiet hotel but but it looks ike a themepark!! Kids running around, people talking everywhere, super noisy! The check-in queue is the longest one that I ever seen in all my hotel stay. But luckily, many counters are open and we waited for about 20-25mins. After requesting what I want for my room, the front desk assistant gave us the fifth highest level for our room type. Yah, we are staying on the 18th floor, no 83. Nice number right- 1883!

The room was not so fantastic as I thought. The only wow thing is the bathroom. Personally I like the concept of standing shower together with the bath tub side by side. And the bathtub is the biggest one in all hotel I have been too. It fits perfectly for both of us :) We waited for Jasmine & JF to reach before going to Skypark. Luckily for us that we proceed to MBS earlier if not we will be like Jasmine & Jo who are struck & need to walk extra way to come here. Oh i forgot to mention that its NDP preview & we booked another hotel at Pan Pacific for Jasmine.

Another madness place at MBS : Skypark!! Super crowded, although it's a long pool divided into kids, normal & adult but they are everwhere. Then I was wondering, it might be due to NDP preview so they want to watch the fireworks at a good view which Skypark is located at the 57th floor. Honestly we really like the pool but there are just too many people for us to enjoy it. Well.. since it's open not only to hotel guest, who know there might be a day we will pay $20 just to come here for a swim?? But this time, definately not during any preview or actual of shows.

We stayed in the pool for a couple of hours before the preview start & I decided to get out of the pool to change camera battery, also to wait for Darry's family. Dear extended the invitation to her whole kampong to MBS to see fireworks. Well, it's a good idea as since Skypark is free for hotel guest so why waste, might as well call more people to fully utilitize the privillage after all it's not cheap to book this ATAS hotel. Due to road block, Darry's family took a long time to reach here so the kids only managed to see the last few seconds of the fireworks. After the show, they came to our hotel for a short rest and we proceed to have our last dinner at Lao Ba Sha.

Breakfast indeed was a big spread at MBS, I'm glad that I didn't miss it and even paid for an additional pax for Dear. Managed to ask for late checkout at 12pm!! which is normal check out time for other hotel but for MBS, officially check out hours was 11am. Seeing that we still have time, we decided to go Skypark one last time to snap more pictures and turns out there's really lesser people this time. All in all, I enjoyed this stay although I expected it to be a peaceful & quiet weekend spent with Dear.
