Hong Kong - 22 Feb - 26 Feb 2012
Friday, 30 March 2012

I have to agree with the others that almost every 1 or 2 months, I will be travelling to another country, be it the mode of travelling is either by air, sea or land. I really enjoyed every single trip I travel with dear but for this trip, I really thank her for not giving up in searching for a flight so we could travel on the specific date we want. Of course being a generous her, she even went to an extreme to help us (me and Vinnie) pay the balance when the amount exceeded our budget. I know she's doing this cos I really wanted to go Hong Kong for a long time (skipped last yr) so she don't want to disappoint me. The booking was done end of Dec 2011 and when everything is finalised, I patiently wait for the day to come.

The 3 of us has been to HongKong for a couple of times, especially me and Vinnie used to travel together so I could say we are quite used to budget travelling whereas Dear is more used to comfort travelling. One of the example was the mode of transport to and fro airport. For so many years, the only transport I used to go airport was airport express which is MTR but dear prefer taxi as she thinks its too troublesome to carry luggage up and down the stairs when out from MTR. I finally understand dear's point of view after we took a cab to airport on the last day. Indeed the taxi cost if divided into 3 pax would be just HK100 each which usually we pay HK60 if travel by MTR. Afterall the diff is just HK40. Maybe this thought never came across me was we always travel in pair and to split the cost of HK300 between 2 pax, I still find it too costly. I may say its costly but doesn't mean I'm not flexible, if there's a need, I can always consider the choice of taking cab too :)

I don't have many mission for this trip so I treat it as a R&R trip? Which supposely to be one till I realised I walked more than my usual when I go to Hongkong. Maybe one of the reason is it's no longer me and vinnie or me and dear so I can't side either one, my itinerary is based on what I used to go and add in some ideas from other people so there's new fresh places for us to travel. This time round, I have added in new malls, new food stalls and of course another short getaway while in HK.

All of us have been to Macau but only for me, I only went there with tour group and I can't step into the casino at that time, so can you imagine how old am I at that time. This time I finally made it to Casino butdue to time management, I'm sorry to dear that I did not fulfill my promise to let her play in there. Unexpected delay from the fog therefore our ferry was travel at an extremely slow speed which took us more than 1hr which usually only takes 45mins. By the time we reached, its already 4pm plus and we proceed to our destination. Little me did not do much research on Macau and we wasted some time on planning how to get to the casino, malls, places of interest. A few regrets on this Macau trip as I was hoping I could stay on longer to walk around so maybe the next time round, I would plan my trip well.

Disneyland is another MUST place for us but I realised we are kana con to go there this time round. Thinking that it's CNY season, there might be different decoration from the usual one so we add this into our itinerary. But when we got there, we realised the CNY season was over and it's just normal disneyland. A bit of disappointed as if not for this CNY, we wouldn't have gone there. A lesson learnt, never trust Disneyland website.

Many careless mistake made for this trip. I lost a bag of clothes in one of the stores, left behind my credit card in the store on the day we departed, as a result, the whole group got to travel up and down for me. I feel totally bad about it but at the same time, I really appreciate for their understanding despite the almost quarrel attitude.

A few interesting places that I want to highlight for this trip. The first overseas dim sum shop that made me queue for almost an hour is... worth it. Personally I quite like the baked char siew bun and siew mai. The 70's cafe we had for early dinner at Causeway Bay is another unique place as the whole cafe was decorated with all the oldies stuff. The street that dear brought us on the last day is one place I would sure want to go again. It's different from ladies street where the things sold are more unique and cheaper. This is one good thing about travelling with diff people as they might have been to places where you never been to before.

A Big thank you to dear for make this trip happen and look forward for another HK trip but this time round, only the 2 of us :) Muackies!!
