trip to heart of asia - taiwan (part 1) : wulai
Wednesday, 14 March 2012

darling and i arrived at taiwan taoyuan airport around noon time and had this very privilige mini-coach ride (because, this 'tour group' that we joined only hv two of us!!) straight to wulai. wulai is a famous mountain village in northern taiwan and is located in water reservation area. basically, wulai also means hot spring and residents at wulai are mostly aboriginal people (atayal tribe).

our accomdation at wulai is naluwan hotel (娜路彎温泉酒店) , which give us the best view of a waterfall juz right in front of us at the hotel balcony. it is magnificant like a white silk cloth coming down from the sky. inside the hotel, it was linked to his aboriginal culture center, where it introduces their culture, customers and habits of the atayal tribe and demostrates the use of historical artifacts through a singing and dancing performance. and after which, darling had a try pounding hard on the handmade muah chee..

another uniquness of wulai will be the sightseeing log cart which is used for transportation of lumber in the past (read from online), but now it is mainly for tourists' pleasure. with this ride, it brings us to this wulai old street(烏來老街), where we visited the hotspring (this one was clear, transparent, colorless and odorless) (國際岩湯). at the same time, we tried to gobbled down as much local delight as possible. darling's favourite bet will be will hot sping eggs, while mine will be on the black pig sausage!! super-duper yummy!!and back to hotel, we had this not-so-impressive dinner (four-seasons theme) provided by the hotel resturant. hahaha!!

the next morning was a early one as we proceeded to the neidong national forest recreation (內洞森林遊樂). inside the park, there are many waterfalls and there is this xinxian waterfalls that has 3 levels and is deemed as the most famous one in the park. in fact, we managed to climbed up and caught a very grand spectacle view of the waterfall. along the tour track, we are surrounded by the very dense forests and flora smells. silly darling mentioned that the air was so clear that she find it so hard to breathe properly. hilarious! i felt we should bring a bottle to capture some of the clear air and bring back to singapore!

lunch was at this particular resturant that served us the tea cuisine lunch. basically, the dishes are all made up of tea leaves. its quite refreshing and i guess its a good way to detox our bodies too. we then checked out of wulai and had our driver bring us to taipei city area! =)
